Leave a Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift to St. Pat’s in your will may be easier than you think. How you leave a gift is entirely up to you and your gift can be of any amount. Any gift will help us pay for the repairs to the roof and ensure that future generations will enjoy the Cathedral for years to come.

How to Leave a Gift in Your Will:

  1. Chose the type of gift you would like to leave to St. Pats. You might choose to leave a residual gift which is a percentage (%) of your Estate after other gifts (and debts) have been paid. Alternatively, you may wish to leave St. Pat’s a specific amount of money.

  2. Get the support you need. While adding to a gift to your Will is typically a straight forward task, we recommend working with a lawyer where circumstances allow. Consulting a financial planner is also prudent.

  3. Add a gift to St. Pat’s to your will. Whether you are preparing your first will or updating an existing one, here is the information you will need:

    1. The legal name of the Cathedral is St. Patrick’s Cathedral

    2. The charitable registration number is: 119264174RR0011

    3. The address is: 211 Archibald Street South, Thunder Bay, Ontario, P7E 1G4

    4. Suggested wording for a residual gift: “To pay St. Patrick’s Cathedral the residue (or a percentage of the residue) of my Estate for the repair of the Cathedral roof.”

    5. Suggested wording for a specific gift: “To pay St. Patrick’s Cathedral the sum of $________ for the repair of the Cathedral roof.”

  4. Please let us know you have chosen to include St. Patrick’s in your Will. We would love to thank you personally for your thoughtfulness and generosity.
